Bureau Bollito is a group exhibition on Robert Walser’s special relationship to bureaucracy and office life, taking place from 15 January until 20 December 2024 in Robert Walser-Zentrum, Bern and different outpost locations. Every instant is at once partnered with Bureau Bollito through Robert Walser’s extensive letter writing
practice. They offer insight into his lifestyle, the conditions of his writing career, bear witness to the fights with his publishers and editors as well as document tender and romantic relationships with friends and lovers, all which can be understood as paratextual to his published literary works. In an attempt at finding another language for these writings the letters – read by Ariane von Graffenried – are interpreted by the jazz trio Ruedi Häusermann, Marco Käppeli and Claude Meier.
